Sir,

With reference to your letter of the 16th Ultimo asking for the co-operation of this Chamber in a scheme to provide a Scholarship Fund for Yunnanese to study at the Hongkong University, I have the honour to inform you for the information of His Excellency the Governor that this Chamber would be prepared to guarantee a sum of $1,0 000 a year for three years to such an end if the Hongkong Government are prepared to provide an equal cum.
